Get Involved

Would you like to be more involved in Northeast Georgia Dietetic Association this year?

There are many ways that you can help promote health and wellness in our region and advance the profession of dietetics through your membership in the Northeast Georgia Dietetic Association.  Are you a master planner or organizer?  Join one of our five committees to both promote the registered dietitian nutritionist’s role as the food and nutrition expert and serve our local communities’ needs for quality nutrition information.  Are you passionate about advocating for and advancing the dietetics profession?  Consider running for a board position for the 2016-2017 membership year!  Of course, attending our monthly membership meetings is a wonderful way to network with area RDNs, dietetic students, and dietetic interns while learning more about topics important to the profession.  So, you can join a committee, learn more about becoming an Executive Board member, or simply enjoy the fellowship of area nutrition professionals while staying up to date on current nutrition topics.

Join a Committee

We have two new committees this year as we begin to implement strategies to promote the dietetics professional in the Northeast Georgia area.  To join a committee, indicate your choice(s) when you join or renew your membership, or send us an e-mail here.

Communication and Social Media Committee (New!)

This committee coordinates the quarterly newsletter and posts news updates, upcoming events, and other fun information to our Facebook page and web site.

Public Relations Committee (New!)

This committee serves as a liaison to our local dietetic students, as well as submits public service announcements to local news outlets about upcoming community events.

Scholarship Review Committee (Professionals Only)

This committee reviews the annual applications for scholarships.

National Nutrition Month Committee

This committee works with the Professional Development Chair and Chair-elect to plan community activities to promote the current National Nutrition Month theme.  Previous activities include “Ask-A-Dietitian” tabling events around Athens, readings and treats at the library, and gift baskets to radio stations.

Community Service and Outreach Committee

This committee plans at least one community service event per semester to help us give back to our local communities.  Previous  projects include providing meals for the homeless through A Bigger Vision, collecting toiletry items for abused women, and packing meals at the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
